Welcome to AcademicAdvantageNJ

Our primary purpose is to bring greater awareness of the 19th century American Literary Renaissance that was centered in Concord, Massachusetts.

For more than 50 years (between 1835 – 1888), some of the greatest American writers lived and worked in Concord. Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Louisa May Alcott – writers who transformed American literature – were neighbors and friends. They socialized, took walks together, spent hours in deep conversation with each other, and then retreated to their own work space where they wrote separately, independently – and so effectively that they forever altered American literature.

Here at Academic Advantage NJ, we promote these writers and their little home town. We offer lectures, workshops, and tours to teachers, students, and the mildly curious.

So, welcome. Come on in and browse our site. If you have any questions, please let us know.
